A. IDENTIFICATION & LOCATION

1. Name

1.1  This is a city-owned building on University property. It has never been named by the University.

1.2  Alternate names noted:

The building is referred to in Board of Trustees minutes as a "booster station" or "pumping station."

2.  Location

2.1  Located in the triangle formed by Olentangy River Road on the east, the old Ackerman Road on the north, and the new Ackerman - Dodridge connector road on the south. The old church building approximately 100 feet north of the pumping station carries 2781 Olentangy River Road as its addresss. See map below.

 Concrete block.

3.2  No. of stories:

One.

3.3  Increments of construction:

No addition.

3.4  Size of building not covered by University records. Ground coverage of about 20' x 1+0' is Indicated by campus maps.

 

B. PLANNING & CONSTRUCTION

The building was constructed by the City of Columbus in the first half of 1952, as indicated by the following:

1.  January l4, 1952 - Board of Trustees authorized the granting of an easement to the City of Columbus for the construction of the building.

2.  March 10, 1952 - Board of Trustees granted Columbus and Southern Ohio Electric Company an easement to construct a line to the pumping station.

3.  April, 1952 - First estimates prepared (basis for first payment to contractors).

4.  September, 1952 - Final estimates prepared (basis for final payments to contractors).
