2. Location

2.1  Located at 1735 Cannon Drive (number arbitrarily assigned for indexing purposes).

Located on site of present Building 079 — Electric Substation and Metering Station. See

3. General Description

3.1 Type of construction:

All structures of reinforced concrete, except Unit D was of concrete block with precast concrete
roof units.

3.2 No. of stories:

All one story

3.3 Increments of construction:

Units A through F in the diagram above were built at one time: Units G and H were added later.

3.4 Identification and size of units shown on diagram above:

B.  PLANNING & CONSTRUCTION — ORIGINAL CONSTRUCTION

1. This project was designed by the Engineering Experiment Station staff. It was built by the
Ohio Department of Public Works for the Division of Water of the State Department of Natural
Resources.

2. On September 6, 1950 the Board of Trustees approved the plans and related documents in order
to clear the way for construction.

3. Records in the Office of the State Architect Indicate that this project included some remodeling
of the original unit of Building 132 and that six contractors were involved in the total project.

The general contractor on Units A to F, inclusive was the Brooks-Sanders Co. Their bid was submitted
on August 24, 1951 and their contract was executed on September 6, 1951. The final estimate was
dated August 4, 1952.                                  -

An electrical contract, based on an August 24, 1951 bid, was executed with Electrical Contractors, Inc.
on September 6, 1951. The final estimate on their contract was dated November 1, 1952.

Another contract with the Brooks-Sanders Co. was executed on November 19, 1951, based on a October 19, 1951
bid. This contract covered a force main, drains, and manholes. The final estimate was dated June 16, 1952.

The final estimates on the above contracts would suggest that Units A to F, inclusive,were completed
by early August 1952, and that they were operational by November upon completion of the electrical work.

The other three contracts were all based on bids in January and February 1951, before the construction
of Units A to F. It Is, therefore, assumed that they covered work in Building 132, but proof of this
assumption has not been sought.

C. PLANNING & CONSTRUCTION - ADDITION

1. Units G & H were added to the original construction, but dates of construction and identification
of the units are in doubt.

2. Conversations with three former employees at this pilot plant reveal that possible identifications
of Units G & H include: (1) a weir box, possibly Unit H, (2) a fish tank, possibly Unit 6; and
(3) a chlorination tank, possibly unit H. One person contends that the only fish tank was at
Building 132.

3. The identity of Units G & H must remain in doubt at this point.

D. DEMOLITION

The Board of Trustees on September 8, 1966 voted to demolish these facilities and the assignment for
demolition was issued by the Office of Campus Planning on September 19, 1966 (P).
