After the City of Columbus widened Lane Avenue from 2 to 4 lanes, the building was considered to be too close to the road to continue to be used for housing.

Demolition of the second story had begun by December 14, 2006 and was completed by S. G. Loewendick & Sons on purchase order 528007A070.  The demolition was performed as part of a package to demolish this building, 226 West 9th Avenue, & 218-220 West 9th Avenue at a cost of $199,874.50.

The building site is currently a combination of parking lot and green space.
