Records in the University Architect's office and architect's records in the University Archives cover a Project 4016--Implement Barn, which appears to be Building 173. This building was constructed by Robert W. Setterlin and Son pursuant to a proposal dated April 20, 1940. The project cost was $2,543.25.
[See Addendum No. 2]
No drawings have been found that would permit positive identification of Project 4016 as Building 173.
The case for such identification rests upon these facts:
1. The location" south of the Pavey Barn" is appropriate for Building 173.
2. The specifications for the building in Project 4016 are for a building 80 feet long, which the length of Building 173.
3. A construction date of 1940 is consistent with the design and physical condition of Building 173:
4. A construction date of 1940 is not inconsistent with available maps. It appears on a January 31, 1947 map and has not been located on earlier maps.

ADDENDUM NO. 2
A drawing has been found in the University Architect's office for an implement shed at the site of the Pavey Barn. This drawing was approved April 8, 1940 and depicts the structure now designated Building 173.
The finding of this drawing identifies this building with the Project 4016 mentioned in Part B above and confirms the information therein with respect to Building 173.
