B. PLANNING & CONSTRUCTION- -ORIGINAL CONSTRUCTION
1. On October 11, 1942 the Board of Trustees approved the plans and related documents prepared by
Howard Dwight Smith and authorized the solicitation of bids by contractors.
2. Bids were received on December 4, 1942 (A).
3. On December 14, 1942 the Board of Trustees approved Cabinet action awarding the construction contract
to Robert W. Setterlin & Sons.
4. Completion and occupancy:
Final estimate is dated May 6, 1943 (A).
C. PLANNING & CONSTRUCTION- -ADDITION
1. On September 20, 1943 the Board of Trustees approved the plans and related documents prepared by
Howard Dwight Smith and authorized the solicitation of bids by contractors.
2. Bids were received on November 30, 1943 (A).
3. On December 6, 1943 the Board of Trustees approved Cabinet action awarding contracts to the following
contractors:
General: Robert W. Setterlin & Sons
Electrical: Electric Power Equipment Co.
Heating: J. F. Oelgoetz Co.
Plumbing: Wuellner & Theado
4. Completion and occupancy:
The general contract was substantially completed May 31, 1944 (A). Final estimates on the other
three contracts were: plumbing,. June 14, 1945; heating, September 1, 1944; and electrical, July
15, 1944 (A). Architect's files contain no explanation of the late final estimate on the plumbing
contract, but presumably the building was usable in 1944.

are as follows:

F. MISCELLANEOUS
Certain maps show several small buildings to the south and west of Building 031. These are shown on the
sketch below, and are identified as follows:
A -- These outlines represent wind tunnel apparatus which was later moved inside.
B, C -- These outlines have not been identified. Since the map on which they appear was made from
aerial photographs, it is possible the outlines represent equipment incorrectly interpreted by
the cartographer as buildings.D -- A paint storage shed. See report on Buildings S 9 and S 10.

ADDENDUM NO. 1
In October 1973 new names were assigned to this building and part of the attached Fire Crash and Rescue
Building (285). In the sketch below, the original numbers are shown within the solid building outlines.
The new names appear outside the building outlines.

ADDENDUM NO. 2
In referring to this building as Hangars 1, 2, and 3, the numbering was from east to west, i.e., in the
sketch on the second page of this report. A was Hangar No. 1, A' was Hangar No. 2, and B was Hangar No.3.

ADDENDUM NO. 3
The Board of Trustees on November 9, 1953 approved construction by the Ohio National Guard of an 8'
x 8' x 12' oil and lubrication storage building between the northwest corner of S 10 and the west
corner of Building 31. This might be C in the sketch on the preceding page.
In May 1977 the address of this building was changed to 2160 W. Case Road.
