1. General--These are seven old houses on Clay Alley in the Laneview area. They were purchased in
1960 and demolished shortly thereafter. They were never used for any University purpose.
2. Location--Approximate locations are shown on the following map. Exact locations are not known,
since no map showing buildings has been found and the area was not divided into lots.
3. The following information about the individual structures has been taken from appraisal reports in the
files of the Property Management office.
H 932 (2430 Clay) -- One story frame. Approximately 24' x 36'. Six rooms.
H 933 (2442 Clay) -- Two story frame. Approximately 28' X 28'. Six rooms.
H 934 (2450 Clay) -- One story frame. Approximately 25' x 25'. Four rooms.
H 935 (2456 Clay) -- One story frame. Approximately 25' x 26'. Four rooms.
H 936 (2460 Clay) -- One story frame. Approximately 25' x 25'. Four rooms.
H 937 (2464 Clay) -- One story frame. Approximately 22' x 24'. Four rooms.
H 938 (2470 Clay) -- One story frame. Approximately 24' x 34'. Five rooms.
4. Utilities--These houses were served by electricity only. There was no sewer, water, or gas Service.
5. Demolition—These houses were used by the Clinton Township Fire Department for training purposes
and were burned by the Department.
Demolition was approved by the Board of Trustees on September 9, 1960.
6. Photographs—There are no pictures of these buildings in Photoarchives. There is a November 11,
1959 appraisal report in the files of the Property Management office that contains three fading pictures
showing most of the buildings.
7. Remaining Houses--As of May 1973 there were no remaining houses on Clay Alley in Laneview.

Title to these properties was conveyed to the University by warranty deed executed on June 28, 1960
by Alice Carter Sands, Jane Carter Jones, and Richard T. Jones. (Deed book 2266 p. 499)
